Andrea Grace Lucas was a student in the class of 2013 at American Heritage School. Despite suffering from CF, Cystic Fibrosis, an incurable but treatable disease that affects the respiratory and digestive systems, Andrea was described by her classmates and friends as nothing less than the sweetest and most passionate person they knew. After a winter case of the flu made lethal by her underlying disease, Andrea passed away on February 18th, 2013 despite long and expensive palliative treatments. Today, the Andrea Lucas Foundation, created in honor and in loving memory of Andrea, focuses on raising awareness and funds to discover the cure for cystic fibrosis and further help many children whose lives are affected by this killer disease.
The Andrea’s Angels Dance Marathon focuses both on its fundraising goals and on unifying and incorporating the community in the fight against cystic fibrosis through their participation and contributions. The upbeat music and unbroken dancing throughout the event not only takes us one step closer to the cure for CF, but also radiates happiness and keeps the spirit of Andrea alive.
